Recently, KTZ Express, a subsidiary of Kazakhstan Temir Zholy, successfully completed a pilot railway shipment of passenger cars in dedicated containers on the Chongqing–Dostyk–Vorsino international rail corridor — an important trial for China–Kazakhstan–Russia finished-vehicle rail logistics.
The pilot was jointly operated by KTZ Express, CRCT (China Railway Container Transport) and Yuxinou (Chongqing) Logistics. Yuxinou organized and operated the block train overall, while KTZ Express provided end-to-end freight agency services on the 1,520 mm gauge section. Multi-party coordination ensured a smooth run.
The pilot train carried 55 forty-foot auto-specialized containers with 182 Changan passenger cars. The highlight was a newly developed 35-ton payload 40ft auto container designed for light passenger vehicles in cross-border moves — improving efficiency and cargo safety while expanding container options for the auto industry.
The trial is a meaningful breakthrough for China-to-Russia finished-vehicle container logistics and shows the potential of customized modern logistics solutions in international rail. It also strengthens logistics links among China, Kazakhstan, Russia and other Eurasian markets.
Going forward, KTZ Express plans to broaden cross-border service offerings and refine integrated solutions on core Eurasian rail corridors, further improving capabilities and transit efficiency for vehicles and general cargo.
